Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is your denomination?
Perhaps this is the most commonly asked question. Sacred Heart of Jesus is not about ascertaining denominational lines. We are part of a communion. More ...
2) Are you Catholic or Protestant?
We are both. The word catholic comes from the Greek adjective katholikos which means universal. Since all who believe in Christ are tasked with the gift of sharing the Good News of Salvation through the entire world, we at Sacred Heart of Jesus consider ourselves as catholic. Furthermore, we believe that since we have Apostolic Succession, we are in continuity with the original universal church. We closely follow in the Anglican tradition, and we consider ourselves to be “Reformed Catholics”. This by definition means we are also part of the protestant movement.
3) Do you celebrate Holy Communion?
We celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday. We also celebrate Morning, Afternoon and Evening Prayers daily, and Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday. Currently we have a private chapel but are in the process of getting together resources for a public chapel.
4) What is your stance on the Bible?
We believe that the Bible contains all things necessary for salvation, that it is the rule and ultimate standard of faith.
